Mastering certainly is a very complex process, its the final thing to do before going on record. It's always recommended that mastering is made by some one else, a proffesional. Why do you want to master your first track ever? I'd suggest you go on producing and leave mastering for a sound engineer...

I use mainly Logic, to build the projects use fruity from time to time to write some crazy chords progresions and apregios, its so good on this!!!!! and I use a lot Reaktor (if we consider it a platform) for making the most craziest sounds and scapes. Its a software form another world... 8) hell ye...
