Tell me, O muse, of that ingenious hero who travelled far and wide after he had sacked the famous town of Troy. Many cities did he visit, and many were the nations with whose manners and customs he was acquainted; moreover he suffered much by sea while trying to save his own life and bring his men safely home; but do what he might he could not save his men, for they perished through their own sheer folly in eating the cattle of the Sun-god Hyperion; so the god prevented them from ever reaching home. Tell me, too, about all these things, O daughter of Zeus, from whatsoever source you may know them.

I hope the concept will be powerfull.. so many different artists here. It'll be great if the release will be like a one big story but not like the collection of the tracks..

:) Hello!
The release is an effort to transmit the meaning of Odyssey
there are three parts in Homer's Epic
First 8 Rapsodies are called : Tilemachiada-means the story of Tilemachus in search of his father. The other 8 are the story of Odysseus from Trojan war until he gets to the island of Feakes and the final 8 rapsodies are reffered to Odysseus return to Ithaki island and how he retrieves his throne and his wife Penelope, from the sinister visitors whose leader is Antinoos(Anti-nous=Anti-mind) In that sense the concept is very close to Homers work

Estimate that the final chapter of odyssey has not been released yet and it will be available as a special treat , when HSS reaches 100,000 legal downloads from Ektoplazm(Very soon i believe :D)
Have fun with the music and send some feedback if you like!

It checks what the source file is from, eg: if an mp3 was converted to WAV. From what I have heard it isn't very accurate though.

Google is your friend... ... sic-files/" onclick=";return false;

& while audiochecker is not all that reliable, generally it does not generate SO many false positives either..

The best way to check your lossless files is allways to look at the spectrogram...
This is what your track looks like:

This is what it SHOULD look like:

In other words, your track (& 11 others on this VA) are missing ALL the audio data from 20 to 22 Khz!!!

You can clearly see detailed activity in the 20-22Khz band!!!

Your track:

After the sudden cut @ 20Khz there is virtualy NO activity over -60db!!!

This 20Khz cutoff is consistent with 320Kbit CBR mp3 compression...
although it could also be a result of bad mixing & mastering, in this case it doesn 't seem likely as all the LOSSY tracks have the same cutoff & bad mastering would have damaged ALL the tracks....

Hence, it appears that, for some reason, about HALF of the final mixdowns handed in for mastering were at some point converted to mp3 then back to WAV again... Why & how this could of happened is completely beyond me!!!

I know that beatport & itunes (& a large number of other retailers) sell mp3s & many djs PLAY mp3s, i guess it really depends a lot on the source material... (some music doesn't have that much information in the 20-22khz band)
But when you make a LOSSLESS release full of LOSSY files then you have a problem as the difference between the two is clearly audible!!!

I don't know what went wrong... but i'm sure i'm not alone when i say: I would appreciate it if you (HSS) could look into it & try to sort it out!!! (you have a nice release here, unfortunately most of the tracks i like are LOSSY :-( )

thanks for detailed inputs.

maybe the ,mastering studio made some decisions to cut some freqs?
i was otherwise quite happy with how these wavs were sounding on a PA and at studio monitors

Sometimes mastering studios trim high frequencies leading to false positives in Audiochecker... but I've not seen a release where some tracks were like that and some not. Sounds like it wouldn't be a bad idea to investigate...
